Spring is here (?) – A PMC 2019 Update

With rain and even a little snow in the forecast, it’s hard to believe that Spring has arrived. And while I’m itching to get outside to ride, I’ve been forced to take it easy due to muddy trails and a lingering cold.

While my training has suffered, my fundraising is on the fast track thanks to you! As of today, I have raised $4,160 – 100% of which will be donated to the Perry S. Levy Fund for Gastrointestinal Cancer Research at Dana Farber.

I have also heard from many friends, neighbors and former listeners who have shared their encouragement and their stories of those touched by cancer. To each, I have sent each a dragonfly painting and my thanks.

Having nearly reached my initial fundraising goal, I’ve given myself a new challenge – to raise $8,500 towards finding a cure for cancers of the gastrointestinal tract. These cancers which include esophageal, colon, pancreatic, and many others, represent almost 1/4 of all new cancer diagnoses this year and will be responsible for 1/3 of the cancer deaths this year.

I will continue to send out dragonfly paintings to anyone who donates – every little bit helps!

Sadly, I’m riding for a growing number of people. For family members – Twiggy, Pammie, Aunt Kathy, and Papa Tom. I’m riding for friends and neighbors – Kristin, Elka, Carol, PJ, and Jake. And I’d be honored to also ride for someone in your life. Just send me their name when you donate, or after so I can add it to my bracelet.
