Buying a gift for my husband used to be easy, I just bought him bike stuff. Gloves, shorts, glasses, water bottles, multi-tool – there was no bike-related accessory I would not consider, or that he would not enjoy receiving. (While spandex shorts may not sound like a great gift, they are something that regularly needs replacing).

But then he became “the Bike Guy” and suddenly bike stuff wasn’t an option. One word – wholesale.

Because he can buy direct from the manufacturers, he can generally get a better price on anything I would have bought him in the past. Nothing kills the mood around giving a present like the words “how much did you spend on this?”

So when the publicist for JORD offered to send me a wood watch for my husband, I knew I had a potential winner.

While JORD is promoting the watch as the perfect Father’s Day gift, I had another occasion in mind – our 17th anniversary. Checking out the watch, I knew he would love it. While he is not traditionally a watch wearing type of person, he loves wood and wood crafts – I think it’s because of his grandfather, from whom we have several hand whittled pieces around the house.

As predicted, Steve loves the watch. Wearing it over the weekend, he mentioned how light it was compared to his traditional metal watch.

Having knocked it of the park for our anniversary now I just have to figure out what to get him for Father’s Day.

I wonder if he’d like a new pair of cycling socks.
